Survival instinct is one of the most powerful drives we have ingrained in our beings. And survival instinct is closely linked with fulfilling our needs. The feelings of not being able to fulfil ones needs are thus deeply painful. When we enter the memory in which we were not able to get what we needed, we experience feelings of powerlessness, worthlessness, feeling of not deserving to live and similar.
Thus even the smallest incidents in our childhood in which we are, or perceive to be, deprived from fulfilling our needs, may lead to triggering survival impulses. Since survival drive is by its nature often stronger than other urges, morals or beliefs, we will naturally behave in ways which will ensure fulfilling our needs. This may include manipulative, aggressive and malevolent behaviors. Typically these behaviors may be inherited, influenced by collective consciousness or learnt in a different way. Once adopted and repeated several times, these behaviors are learnt and are used in similar situations which trigger the memories related to the incident. Examples of these behaviors include: we can use anger or hysteria to get what we want, we can overeat, we may steal or violently take from others, or in a less obvious forms, manipulate with more subtle emotions and behaviors. What can we do about fulfilling our needs then?
The craving of unfulfilled needs is there and pure ignorance or suppressing is not really helpful. This will only further hurt us and increase our craving since part of us longs for fulfilling our need and there is a deep sense of lack and emptiness inside of us (for this reason diets or other abstinence methods often do not work). Also overindulging and malevolence are not a solution either. Suppressing our needs on one side and overindulging are opposing inner polarities that are created in traumatic experiences in our childhood. Using the Paradox-x Method we can identify the traumatic incident that created split into polarities, and find the way, or learn a new way in which we can fulfil our needs. To do that we may need to face deep and painful suppressed emotions. If traumas are deep, it may be necessary to seek support of a practitioner skilled in working with deep emotions and trauma. Please see more on work with polarities and traumas in our website section About Paradox-x or contact us for more information.
